Overview

Brenda L. Sabey, Ph.D., is the Dean of the College of Education at Dixie State University (soon to be Utah Tech University), a comprehensive state university in St. George, Utah. She is beginning her 13th year of serving in this role. Dr. Sabey has been in the teaching profession since 1986 and has spent the last 30 years preparing teachers. She earned her B.S. with a dual major in elementary and special education and her Masters in Literacy Education from Brigham Young University. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Etymology/Spelling, from the University of Nevada, Reno. Dr. Sabey serves on the Utah Council of Education Deans and on a Utah State Board of Education committee focused on teacher education. She was also a member of the Utah state team involved in the Network for the Transformation of Educator Preparation (NTEP) initiative. Dr. Sabey loves participating in the preparation of future teachers and is inspired by all the good things going on in the field.
