Overview

David J. Chard, PhD, is Dean of Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. He was previously President of Wheelock College before its merger with Boston University. Previously, he served as dean of the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University. David has held faculty positions at Boston University and the University of Texas at Austin, and served as associate dean in the College of Education at the University of Oregon. In 2012, President Barack Obama appointed him to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Board for Education Sciences. David has also been a California public school teacher and a Peace Corps educator in Lesotho, Africa.
