Dr. Hohlt was my favorite teacher – he didn’t simplify the content so we were forced to challenge our own thinking.

When/why did you start working in education?

Growing up, I saw firsthand the impact that my mom had on the lives of students with special needs, so I think seeing her and getting to know her students sparked my passion for education. After college, I began my career in Special Education and fell in love with my students.

Why were you excited to join Deans for Impact?

After having taught in the public school system, I wanted to use my skills and background to help bring about systemic changes in education. I was excited to join a team that has a positive, focused energy and brings a unique and solution-oriented perspective to the conversation about education.

Why do Deans for Impact’s guiding principles ring true for you?

I believe that at the heart of success in education is strong relationships between students, teachers, and staff. Deans for Impact’s focus on transforming the teaching profession through data-informed decisions and collaboration with the teacher preparation community is a powerful mission that highlights the importance of these relationships.

What’s your favorite food truck and why?

Arlo’s. They have the best bacon cheeseburger I’ve ever had (and it’s vegan!)
