Overview

Pete Kelly is the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Mary Washington. He is the Convener of the VA Education Deans and Leaders group. Prior to his work in administration, Pete taught in special education in middle schools, psychiatric hospitals, and he taught special education for six years the Kansas Department of Corrections. He was a teacher educator at Truman State University for 16 years while serving as department chair and associate dean for five years. During that time, he also served as the chair of the Missouri Council of Education Deans. As faculty and as an administrator, he has maintained a strong interest in the development of partnerships with PK-12 schools. Both Mary Washington and Truman State University are public liberal arts universities, so he understands teacher preparation within COPLAC institutions.
While not working, Pete loves cooking, biking, and kayaking.
