We’re excited to be sharing resources from our Early Literacy Network that educators can use with early readers to foster the development of early reading skills.

Both word recognition and language comprehension skills are required to build a strong foundation in reading. But word recognition, in particular, is an area where teacher-educators cite future teachers needing more support to build their content knowledge and instructional skills so that they are well-equipped to reach and engage every learner. Our network and resources focus on supporting word recognition.

The first of these resources will be released in late spring/summer 2023 from our Syllabication Bundle — a set of four teacher-educator assignments with accompanying one-pagers and videos that provide tips and best practices to support with decoding longer words.
